I made this sketch by looking at an old, public domain diagram for reference. Replicating diagrams like this is great drawing practice for beginners, because these diagrams already have shading, stippling, and crosshatching. As you practice, you’ll get a feel for when and where to add shading on your own designs. This is still something I’m working on, but I’m not opposed to practice :)

Start by sketching with a pencil. Then trace with a Micron pen. Experiment with shading by adding dots or crosshatching.

Finally, use a large eraser to remove your pencil marks.
