I’ve had followers ask me how I make all my hand-lettered projects look so different. I like to study typography for hand-lettering ideas. Looking at various fonts is a good starting point when you’re a beginner. The trick is to then adapt the letter styles to fit the mood and design of your piece. Today I’m sharing my favorite FREE fonts for hand-lettering inspiration.
1) Sullivan (donations accepted, or you can put $0 in the box)
2) Sail
3) Haymaker (donations accepted, or you can put $0 in the box)
6) Showboat
7) Royal Vanity
8) DK Americain
9) Free Writer
10) Steamwreck
My favorite sites for free fonts are Dafont.com, 1001FreeFonts.com, and the Lost Type Co-Op at LostType.com. Just click on the download button, then double-click the font once it’s downloaded to install. You may need to restart your computer before the fonts show up in your word processing program.
I recommend going into your Font Book and copying and pasting your favorites into one document. You can then print this and refer to it for ideas as you work on your design. Click here to download and print a 3-page PDF with lots of Hand Lettering Font Samples!
Looking forward to reading more. Great article.Much thanks again.
