Today we’re getting creative with some alternate wrapping ideas. Keep these in mind for last minute gift giving!
How to:
Newspaper
1
Recycle newspaper by using it as wrapping paper. You can make it pretty by drawing a pattern on it. I love to use metallic markers for this, like this gold Pentouch®, made by Sakura. It has a paint-like ink with a lot of shimmer, so it provides a beautiful contrast to the newsprint.
2
I’m adding the recipient’s name inside of a frame.
3
Next, I’m making a pattern of simple arrows and bullseyes. You could also try drawing stripes or geometric shapes.
Paper Grocery Sacks
1
Paper grocery sacks are also great to reuse as wrapping paper. Cut the bag so it lays flat.
2
Wrap your gift, then decorate with pens or markers. I like to use my Gelly Roll® Moonlight® pens for this, because the neon colors really pop against the brown background.
3
I’m writing the recipient’s name, and drawing a festive design that looks like confetti or sprinkles. You could also draw balloons or polka dots.
Printable Patterned Paper
1
If you have a small gift, you can use regular printer paper to wrap it. You can draw on it yourself, or you can print one of my free designs to color! Choose from gems, flowers, or arrows (click the link above the supply list to download).
2
I’m using my Koi® Coloring Brush pens for this. I like to color the center of the gems one color, then use a slightly different shade for the remaining facets.
I hope these tips come in handy the next time you have a last-minute gift to give!
