I painted this harlequin pattern by using a sheet of 12×12 cardstock as a template.

I traced the paper with a green colored pencil (so it would blend into the finished paint job), then taped off the edges.

I used a rag to fill in the diamonds with latex paint. I made the paint darker at the edges and lighter in the center.
