For your first try at paper cut lettering, you might want to start simple! Sketch out a single word.

You can play around with word placement on the page itself… you may plan to cut it entirely away, or have it pop up from the page like this. One of my favorite things to do is place the word along the center fold of the paper, and crease the word so it stands upright.
