This pretty posy hairclip is the perfect combination of ease and elegance.
How to:
1
Begin by printing the free template. Cut out each of the circles.
2
For this project, you’ll need a silk or satin synthetic fabric. If it feels really slippery, it will probably work. Trace each circle onto the fabric. Then cut out the circles.
3
Now we’ll cut half-inch slits around the perimeter of each circle, about an inch apart.
4
Light a candle. Hold the edge of a circle close to the flame, and the heat will melt and curl the fabric. Please be careful, the fabric CAN catch on fire. You might want to have a bowl of water nearby so you can soak the fabric if you need to. Remember, only an adult should use a lighter.
5
Repeat this step for all the circles. Notice that you don’t have to put the fabric inside the flame, just hold it close.
6
Layer the circles on top of each other, from biggest to smallest. If you’re happy with how your flower looks, hot glue the layers on top of each other. Now you can add beads, pearls, rhinestones, or a brad to the center of your flower.
7
You can turn it into a hairclip by adding a barrette or alligator clip to the back. Hot glue, and pinch open while the glue cools.
8
Trim a small rectangle of fabric. Insert between the prongs of the clip, and hot glue in place. This will secure the clip.
