Try using a speech bubble as the starting point of your design.

How to:

Start by sketching your design with a pencil. I prefer to use a Sumo Grip mechanical pencil.

Trace your design with a Micron pen, then erase the pencil marks.

I colored this in Photoshop. Create a new layer for each color so you can change them easily, using the hue slider.
