How to:

I start all my sketches with a Sumo Grip mechanical pencil.

Trace your pencil lines with a Micron pen.

Sometimes I like to paint or color my hand lettering projects by hand, and sometimes I do it digitally. Either way, I like to scan my project first to preserve its original state. Scan at a high resolution (350-600 DPI) on the grayscale setting. Then up the contrast for crisp outlines.

I “painted” this piece digitally in Adobe Illustrator, using watercolor brushes.
