How to:

I usually use firm cardstock for my papercut pieces (see more in this video), because it’s more durable and can be folded to stand upright on its own. However, I wanted a lot of delicate cuts for this floral piece, so I decided to try regular printer paper.

First I sketched my design in pencil, then scanned it into my computer. I then used a photo editing program to mirror (reverse) the image. Then I printed it on regular paper. So now I had the image printed backwards, so I could cut it away and none of the lines would show on the front.

When working with regular paper, you have to be even more careful than usual because the paper is so fragile. On the other hand, it’s much easier to cut fine lines.
