When hubby kept stealing my pillow, I decided to label them!
How to:
1
Begin by ironing iron-on interfacing to the back of a piece of cotton fabric. This will stabilize the fabric and reduce fraying as you work.
2
I used my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine to quickly cut out my letters. However, it wouldn’t take much longer to cut them by hand. Just print the template, pin it to your fabric, and cut around the letters.
3
I like to use a temporary basting adhesive when creating appliqués. It keeps the pieces from shifting and lets you avoid pinning. Spray the back of the letters and press to the pillowcase.
4
Your sewing machine may have a pre-set for a satin stitch. If so, select that. If not, set your machine to a zig-zag stitch and adjust the stitch width and length. You want a very tight zig-zag stitch so that it will create a smooth border.
5
Open the pillowcase and slide it onto the sewing machine arm. Be sure you aren’t sewing the pillowcase shut. Align the fabric so that the needle will go down on each side of the letter, catching the raw edge between. Leave the needle in the down position when you need to pivot.
6
Put your new pillowcases on your pillows. No more pillow snatching!
